1

Free Consultation

Email us to schedule a free consultation. museandmatera@gmail.com

During the consultation, we will:

a) Understand the type of sculpture you want
b) Discuss the process + answer your questions
c) Book the In-Person Scanning Session

  • The scanning session at our studio costs $100, is nonrefundable, and will be credited to the cost of the statuette you choose (for in-home visits, there may be additional travel cost that will not be credited towards the statuette).
  • Following the Free Consultation, we will send you payment information. Once payment is received, your In-Person Scanning Session date and time will be confirmed.

For pregnancy sculptures, we recommend scheduling the in-person scanning session between weeks 30 to 36 of your pregnancy.

To ensure you can secure your preferred date, please reach out during your second trimester at the latest to lock it in.

2

In-Person Scanning Session

The scanning session will last about 45 minutes and is held at our studio in Plantation, Florida (just outside of Fort Lauderdale).

We also do in-home visits and pop ups in the following geographies:

  • Miami
  • Fort Lauderdale
  • Orlando
  • Tampa/St. Petersburg
  • Atlanta (and surrounding areas)
  • Nashville, TN
  • Charleston, SC

Meet with a Muse & Matera team member, see and hold examples from our catalog and pick the sculpture that best suits you.

During the session, you will also have the opportunity to ask questions. See FAQs below.

The next step is to get scanned during the session.

3

Get Scanned

Our hand-held 3D scanner uses structured-light technology to create an accurate image of your body for 3D printing.

One of our female team members will discuss the pose you’d like for your statuette, and then you’ll get undressed for scanning.

We will scan your body with the handheld 3D scanner. Each scan takes a couple minutes, so you’ll only need to hold still for a short time.

During the scanning process, we will walk around you several times, holding the scanner a couple of feet away from your body, moving it up and down.

We’ll try out 3-4 poses and review each of them on screen together before finalizing your choice of pose. We'll take multiple scans, if needed, to ensure you’ll be happy with the final statuette.

4

Print, Finish and Ship Your Sculpture

Following your session, we send payment information and edit your digital scan to ensure your unique details are accurately captured for a high quality print.

The digital file is anonymized before being 3D printed in-house in the material of your choice (bronze, patina, copper, brass, or custom color 3D filament).

Once printed, our artisans spend several hours finishing and polishing the sculpture to give it the authentic Romanesque feel and weight.

Lastly, the sculpture will be shipped to you and received within 6-8 weeks of your in-person scanning to be displayed with pride in your home.

About Us

Meet Jessica
Muse & Matera's Founder

Muse and Matera founder

In 2024, Jessica and her husband, John, celebrated the news that they were expecting twins. Inspired by her love of European art, Jessica created custom statuettes in bronze, brass, copper and other 3D printed materials to memorialize the changes in her body.

Now Muse and Matera is bringing this gift to South Florida, with every piece of bespoke art displaying the strength and beauty of the woman it encompasses.

Each piece is made with care, intention, and deep respect for the incredible journey your body has been on. We would be honored to create something beautiful with you.

Frequently Asked Questions

For pregnant clients, we suggest booking between 30 and 36 weeks of pregnancy. This is when the bump is beautifully round and full, but you're still comfortable enough to stand or sit for 30 minutes. We recommend enquiring early as sessions book up quickly.

If you are having a statuette made for reasons other than pregnancy, feel free to come in when makes the most sense for you. We are happy to consult with you to figure out the best time.

The In-Person Scanning Session is usually between 30 minutes and an hour. This includes the time it takes to have a look at our collection and get scanned.
Our artisans hand-finish and polish every print individually, which takes significant time and care. You can expect your finished sculpture within 6–8 weeks of your session.

Muse & Matera's home studio is in Plantation, Florida, just outside of Fort Lauderdale, but we regularly meet clients for appointments in:

  • Miami
  • Fort Lauderdale
  • Orlando
  • Tampa/St. Petersburg
  • Atlanta (and surrounding areas)
  • Nashville, TN
  • Charleston, SC

Our scanner uses structured light technology to create an accurate image of your body.

During the scanning process, we will walk around you several times, holding the scanner a couple of feet away from your body, moving it up and down. Your scanned image will be immediately available for you to preview on screen during your appointment but at this point it will look out of alignment.

After your appointment we carefully edit the image to ensure the skin has a smooth and even surface to produce the highest quality print.

After your appointment, the scanned files are blinded and kept on a secure hard drive with no access outside of Muse & Matera's studio. These files are edited and used for 3D printing in-house by Muse & Matera professionals (no external parties are used for any part of the process).
The statuettes are printed in a range of different PLAs (Polylactic Acid), which are biodegradable, eco friendly plastics produced from renewable resources such as sugarcane. Our catalog includes several options for materials, for example bronze PLA, which has the real feel and weight of a bronze sculpture.
We only offer our services to ages 18 and older.
We believe all bodies are unique and beautiful and want that sensibility reflected in our statuettes. That said, if you’d like a scar or mole smoothed out, for example, please bring it up during the consultation and we can let you know what we're able to do.
Our standard is to securely store for 5 years in case you would like to have your statuette re-printed in the future in case it is lost, broken, or you would like to have in a different material or size, for example. We can also delete the file once you have confirmed receipt of your statuette.

You will have the opportunity to browse our collections and then choose your material, finish and size.

One of our female team members will discuss the pose you’d like to do and once you’re happy, you’ll sign your paperwork and make payment.

Next, you’ll get undressed for the scanning. We will scan your body using our handheld 3D scanner. Each scan takes a couple minutes, so you’ll only need to hold still for a short time.

We’ll try out 3-4 poses with you and review each of them on screen together before finalizing your choice of pose and taking another scan if needed to ensure you’ll be happy with the final statuette.

After your appointment your scan will be anonymized before being printed, finished and polished in your chosen material and size.

Scans of fully naked bodies give the best results. If you prefer, you may wear a loose fitting seamless thong. We will always do our best to ensure you feel safe and supported so please let us know if you have any concerns.
Through our experience we have tested and identified certain poses that work best in terms of the accuracy of the scan and esthetics of the final product. Please let us know if there is a specific pose you are considering and we will do our best to accommodate you.

During your free consultation, we will send payment information to process the $100 cost of the In-Person Scanning Session. Once received, your In-Person Scanning Session date and time will be booked. The $100 will be credited towards the final cost of your statuette.

During the In-Person Scanning Session, the final amount will be determined once you choose your material, finish and size. Once the payment is received, your statuette will be moved into production.

First step is to email us to schedule a consultation at museandmatera@gmail.com

During the consultation we'll talk through the process, answer any questions, and schedule a time for the In-Person Scanning session. We will do our best to accommodate your schedule.

Yes. There may be an additional cost for home appointments depending on the location. When you email us to schedule the Free Consultation, please let us know your zip code so we can determine whether you are in our range.
